A Game of Love with Stars

With no attending ears to hear
Do I, in turn, commune with stars
My better half, though far, seems near
Consoling my sweet grief for hours
But no, these stars play a counterfeit
Traitorous thieves to love’s own heart
Stealing my light for her eyes to meet
Claiming being their own bright art
Let stars be bright and give due praise
[Yet with each night I grow envious]
Light from mine --- turning her nights to days
[As one by one they fall and lose]
Let stars then do that which they know
They steal my light ~ and to her they show...
