Are we really heading towards the right direction?

It is proven time and again that if people disrupt the natural course of life disaster follows. Look around you, chaos all over—global warming, AIDS, earthquake, calamities…an endless stream of human strife made possible by the humans themselves in their futile attempt to modify what was originally designed for them.

Take for example the idea of creating a human life. For a large number of people around the globe conceiving a baby nowadays does not entail the accountability to build a safe environment in which life can flourish. Newly weds and neo parents somehow think that everything is all right as they have a child and thinks that the world around them will definitely fall into place just like the movies. But the shoddiest of all things is movies ain’t the real thing and it does not distinguish the value these new parents as being defective.

I overheard one Pastor in one of his sermon said that “it is always a good thing when a child is born.” Sorry to burst your bubble Mr. Pastor but a child being born to a family in a heap of garbage in the arms of his parents without the ability to feed a child is a child condemned either to die or to become a dependent of the state. A child who grows up in a home where the word “loving relationship” is synonymous to beating and insulting is condemned to countless mental and psychological dysfunction and disturbance.

The problem has gone haywire, yet the solution is so simple that people doesn’t see it right under their nose. Most people see things habitually as they expect that the world is responsible for them and not the other way around. They never see things such as they themselves is the one and only responsible for their inadequacy. Thus people will have children no matter what the consequences may be.

The irony says it all: people who do not have the ability to feed themselves brought a child in this world to feed.

Our present dispensation of the law protects the women and children against the abandonment of the father. Safety measures such as the women have the right to demand alimonies and support from a divorce or child support after the failed marriage. Sure thing justice wave and smiles to those oppressed mother and child. But not exactly. The justice system in its impartiality failed to see the most important part other than alimony.

Justice may have put a penalty to the father by letting him pay certain amount for his mistake for the rest of his life. That’s sweet as many mothers can’t put food on the table while nursing a baby. We know that it is the most righteous thing to do as the pity and responsiveness goes well up to the mother and child. Our heart is always inclined to those oppressed, browbeaten and exploited ones.

My point is again, getting back to the natural course of human existence. If the baby are being used as a bargaining chip in order for the father to fulfill his financial obligation and not to accomplish his nurturing capacity—that’s where the problem starts. Fulfillment of responsibilities should not come from legal pressures; instead it should be by love. If not possible it should be none at all. The dysfunctionality of the family always came from the situation wherein a child have a father living in a distant place with his “other” family and sees him when its time to hand some money. The responsibility should also be extended to the mother in the first place, that if you can’t find a loving partner who would nurture and stick around with you and be at your side to raise the baby—you are not allowed to have a child.

The logic is simple. Please let us not fill this world with children who wears oversized shirt in an undersized emotion hoping to find them a role in a reality TV show somewhere in the limbo of imaginative loveless world. Having children is easy but raising them up to be a responsible one in a functional family is one heck of a job.

I know a woman who got married as mail-order-bride. Then there’s this girl who punch a hole in her boyfriend’s condom to get pregnant and force the guy to marry her. I happen to witness a mother who sold her baby girl to a pedophile. The recent news shows a dead 5 year old kid covered in black and blue right in his bedroom after his step father is through with him.

That is I think because human alter what was once God has given him. Getting married because you love somebody--having a child because you love each other and agree to raise a child responsively. All things that are off track are definitely bound to crash.

we're heading nowhere. if

we're heading nowhere. if the case is letting everyone to reproduce even they don't have slightest sense of responsibility.. i totally agree with you rom. isn't  it time for us to consider what's bad now could be good tomorrow?

rom26factolerin's picture

that's why

that's why i totally disagree with the church's wailing against the reproductive health bill, they know nothing about having a dysfunctional family brought about by irresponsible child birth.

yeah, i don't agree

yeah, i don't agree either. well, i don't go for abortion, but atleast, let people use contraceptives and teach them how to be responsible. minsan di ko maintindihan, parang ang tinatawag pa nilang moralidad ang maglulubog satin sa kalaunan.

goodluck sating lahat!

Poor Children ...

I have a dream.

I will set up my own orphanage and collect all these kids to care for. They say orphanages are very expensive so I must become a billionaire. So then, I can send the best students to Europe, United States, Japan, and Argentina.

I will raise detectives, writers, doctors, chefs, artists, and more.

This is my dream I want fulfilled at the of 40, which is why I decided I don't want to die at 45. ^^;

rom26factolerin's picture

yes Pmel

that's a noble thing to do. i hope all your dreams will come true.

It would be so nice ... *dreams*

I mean, if I can fulfill that dream, then we'd owe it to those oprhans cause I'll make them come back here to help our nation... JK Rowling became rich at a late age. It's never too late for me. xD

ako, if i have millions, i

ako, if i have millions, i will provide homes for the homeless and provide livelihood for them as well...it is in providing livelihood to them that they will be able to assert themselves better in life and they will also be able impart it to their own children and the next generation...

nikol's picture

hmm.

i also thought of that. but when we studied the ten commandments in our values ed, i understand why the church is doing anything to stop the reproductive health bill.

it's like promoting sin because premarital is against God's law.

maybe what we lack is the education about God.

rom26factolerin's picture

not an issue about God

reproductive health bill does NOT promote premarital sex. if people should research and know first what is the bill is all about maybe we can have a better understanding of its motive.

the bill does not state that we should all go out and have sex. people do that with or without the bill. and yes even priests do that too(have sex) so don't ever fuck with the idea that the reproductive health bill promotes pre marital sex.

from what i understand the bill promotes preventive measures and education about reproductive health in order for the people to better manage their sexual life, and plan their reproductive activities. it is up to people to copulate or not what is important is they are educated when the time comes when they are being confronted (especially the youth) with the dilemma of choosing to give in to their carnal desire or not.

sexually transmitted disease is just a tip of the iceberg what i am most concern about is the "unwanted" children and the growing numbers of abortion not to mention the death toll among the young mother who gets pregnant at a very young age. Now what will the church going to do with that? in the first place are they effective enough to prevent these kids from having pre marital sex?

this is not an issue about God this is an issue about choice.

ok

that's what i had in mind before. but really it's so hard to understand myself. i understand both sides and what they're fighting for.

ofcourse i do know what's the content of that bill. it's a recquirement, hehe.

the church may be concerned with the moral values. maybe they think that people will forget God and be crazy over sex.

well, no offense. but why do guys always give in to their hormones!?

it's really pissing me off.

nikol's picture

addition

in my values ed.. it kinda says that that bill must not be passed.

in my economics subj... it says it's really helpful.

then maybe i'm valid for having mixed opinions.

Pmel's picture

Um ... what Rom said.

It's the issue about choice ... and in the case of our country, 'uncommon' sense. Take what you think makes sense and disregard all else that does not, even if your value ed say it does. :)

rom26factolerin's picture

dissecting subject 101

your values subject and your economics subject are not the center of the universe they are merely your options in life. the decisive factor is always you. and there are tons of things to weigh down in life especially if the future and life are at stake. eat the meat and throw the bones. assess your religion, assess your government maybe they are acting out of their own ulterior motives and most of the times they are.

there are so many things in this life hidden beneath a mask. your values and eco subject is not your opinion that's your teachers' you should create one for yourself upon dissecting the facts from the myth.

goodluck on dissecting

and by the way men cannot give in to their hormones if there are no women equally giving in to theirs (unless it's a rape) so if you're pissed off with men and their hormones you should too with women.

hahahahaha

if that's so, majority of the girls are (somehow) provoking. =)

but too bad i'm not one of those, haha. (i guess)

Pmel's picture

Nikol ... *sigh*

You know kid, you are one confused girl and I’ll tell you why that is:

First you wrote, “... when we studied the Ten Commandments in our Values Ed, I understand why the church is (trying) to stop the Reproductive Health Bill (from being passed).

It's like promoting sin because premarital is against God's law.”

While your statement is sound and true, some people just don’t have enough self control. If they cannot control themselves and they commit premarital sex anyhow, it makes a whole lot more sense to teach them – women, how to prevent themselves from getting pregnant.

To further the case, the church is much to blame for making the mass of poor people into thinking that women are only good as housewives and nothing more. They encourage marriage in a twisted manner, which is why a lot of women here are desperate to have children in all the dirty ways they could think off.

As for men, a lot of them are given the belief that they are better than women so it makes their ego larger than it needed. So, they mistreat women with a deep psychological belief that it was after all our mother, Eve who cursed us into getting pregnant as stated in the Bible:

Genesis 2:16

16 To the woman he (God) said,

I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.

“Man will rule over woman” is the emphasis here. That is the twisted teachings that the Church have taught us for decades. However, what the Bible really meant is that since Eve accepted the snake (Lucifer or the Devil), since she accepted his teachings of the world instead of discovering for herself, which is what God had wanted in the first place, she was punished. There is no easy way out. If you want to develop your own opinion, seek for yourself! Don’t ask for other people’s opinion. That is the true lesson God wanted us to know: to learn and develop our own opinion rather than accepting knowledge from others in an easy way.

You also wrote, “In my Values Ed(,) (they teach us) that the bill must not be passed. In my Economics (class)... (we are taught that) it's really helpful ... then maybe I (am) valid for having mixed opinions.”

You are an example of Eve here and this is why:

After obtaining knowledge of the world upon eating the fruit, Eve panicked and got confused so what she do? Like Adam she blamed the snake. You’re also blaming your Value Ed and your Economic Class for teaching you things you don’t know how to handle. So you are being punished in a way too because you are currently on your puberty where everything is confusing.

See? The Genesis in the Bible is not really a set of rules, but a tale of man and woman’s puberty. But the Church of power does not want you to see it that way because it would make you sound a lot smarter.

Do not be confused, Nikol.  Try and read the Bible without thinking what others have taught you. Form your own opinion and you might find your own solution.

A Trivia from Pmel to Everyone

Did you know that ages ago, the Snake and the Owl were symbols of knowledge? Somehow, through the course of history, the meaning changed because of rulers with bad intentions. Wanna know more? Do your own research. And I don't mean that to be mean either. ^^;

nikol's picture

...

that was mentioned in The Vinci Code..

cant remember much of it.

nikol's picture

=D

hell yeah,

thanks for clearing things out!

now i have new things to spend my time during sembreak, =D

Pmel's picture

Is it just me?

Cause what you just wrote sounded a lot like sarcasm from the way I read it. Ah well, I'm not forcing you to drink a spoonful of medicine here so ... yeah ...(o_o)\

And no ... I don't remember DaVinci Code ever mentioning it. I knew it before the movie came out, and even way before I read the book. :)

nikol's picture

really?

did i?

oh.

it's no biggie

it's just that i always try to read the bible but would not last until 2 pages of it.

but i'm really determine now, as a Catholic.

...but aren't you talking about the burning of the scriptures?

Pmel's picture

Huh?

*shrugs* Can't think right now. I'm a little weird tonight. Must be the moon! D:

Jing's picture

hey

Nice article rom :)

Sakin lang, we are all aware that a lot of couples are already engaging in premarital sex. So regardless if the catholic church is preaching that it is against our religion, we have to face the fact that IT IS HAPPENING. Apparently, most catholics are disobeying. Kaya birth control is really necessary.

un lang. la na ko masabi, nasabi na nilang lahat. I wouldn't want to argue any further.hehe

 ciao!

rom26factolerin's picture

salamat Jing

exactly you hit the right nerve Jing. madali lang naman maintindihan e kinokumplikado lang ng church. the sad fact is right in front of us dami bata at young mother ang namamatay kaya ba mapigilan ng church yun? dami bata ang lumalaking unwanted may nagawa ba ang church dun?
