Walk for Truth Papuntang Korte Suprema

Sid Gomez Hildawa, 45

Yesterday afternoon when I woke up, I was shocked to read a message on my cell phone from Kimi Tuvera, a batchmate from the '94 UP Baguio National Writers Workshop that another batchmate, Sid Hildawa passed away. I couldn't believe the news since I just saw Sid, if memory serves me right, last January 21 at the Happy Mondays poetry reading at Mag:net Katipunan during the launch of Marjorie Evasco's poetry installation -- I learned just now that it was Sid who did the artwork.

Why I’m Joining the Interfaith Rally in Makati Today

I’m joining the Interfaith Rally in Makati today because after watching almost 36 hours of the Senate hearing on the ZTE-NBN deal, I believe Rodolfo ‘Jun’ Lozada more than I believe The President’s Men.

DSL World

The Bayantel DSL technician finally came this morning -- earlier than expected: I was expecting them this afternoon. Actually, I was originally scheduled for Thursday, but my date with advanced technology was, as you might have already guessed, rudely interrupted by typhoon Milenyo.

At any rate, I'm now wondering how I ever survived without broadband. Yup, created my sites with dial-up! It's like living in Plato's cave -- you didn't know there was a totally different world out there, brighter, more developed, and you were only seeing reflected shadows on the wall.

D.C. Sillada's 'Convergence'

Just came from the week-long event organized by artist Danny C. Sillada at the Podium Lounge (2nd floor). Actually didn't realize that it was a seven-day event until today. Danny informed us that we missed his performance as a 'juramentado' at the opening last Monday. But as the cliche goes, better late...

At any rate, we were able to witness the reading of Vim Nadera's poetry, performances by the performance group Tupada, and a fashion show-cum-performance art by the designer herself, Lorina Javier. The alternative music duo of Elemento also played their unique brand of music throughout the entire evening.
