Thoughts on Media in Focus' Episode on the National Artist Controversy

Here are my immediate thoughts after watching Media in Focus's episode tonight on the National Artist Controversy, "Corruption of Culture."

***I'm glad I watched it because I learned a lot, clarified a lot of things for me.

'Last Supper No. 3' Highly Recommended

|

Guys, I highly recommend Last Supper No. 3, directed and co-written by my Bing Lao Scriptwriting Workshop classmate, Veronica "Ron/Roni" Velasco. You can still catch it at UP Cine Adarna on Aug. 4 at 7pm.

This is the best so far of the Cinemalaya 2009 films I've seen in UP. I also recommend 'Ang Nerseri."

Chopping People Like Meat in Iran

When I turned on my TV this evening, saw a longer version of this clip on CNN in which an Iranian girl harrowingly describes how protesters were beaten until they were drenched in blood, thrown off a pedestrian bridge, and shot at. And like the girl is pleading, the outside world should now do something! Enough of this appeasement sh*t. Again Edmund Burke's oft-quoted admonition applies here and mankind must once more take heed:

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"

The Judases of our Republic (ConAss-es)!

| |

Just when our country has achieved a semblance of stability due to the upcoming 2010 elections, Judases from the House of Representatives has once more placed our republic in peril for thirty pieces of silver (present conversion rate: 20 million pesos)! Let Rep. Teofisto 'TG' Guingona III tell you how these clowns did it (video taken at the CON ASK forum in Ateneo yesterday, June 4, 2009):

Ju'Not Joyner! American Idol, Group 3

|

Here's my top 3 performers for today's group (March 3, US; March 4, Philippine time).

Von Smith (Marvin Gaye's 'You're All I Need to Get By') -- took the judges' advice -- particularly Simon's -- to heart and toned it down a bit. Result was a great vocal complemented by a confident showmanship.

Lil Rounds (Mary J. Blige's 'Be Without You') -- Like Simon said, Brilliant! She can go straight to making a record now.
