The Discourse as A Literary Genre In Itself

Most of the time, so-called "online message boards" or "forums" are not normally considered as a literary genre in itself.  The craft of writing, it must be said, is usually thought of as originating from a single author ( or perhaps two ) who then communicates with the reader--without the interactive participation of the latter.  The written work, therefore, is the exclusive domain of the writer, and the reader's participation is only in "apprehending" the work, not in contributing to its expansion.
