Cleaning out my act

hi everyone.

it has come to my attention that i'm kinda defeating the purpose of filipinowriter.com. Somebody pointed it out to me that I should clean my act. Hmmm... filipinowriter.com's purpose  is to promote filipino literature or if you want to get specific, here is the site's welcome message with it's aims.

Welcome to FilipinoWriter.com!

FilipinoWriter.com aims to help every kind of Filipino writer –- technical, commercial and literary -- improve his or her lot, especially financially. It also aims to encourage Filipinos to read works by Filipino writers, and thus promote a "reading culture" among Filipinos. Finally, Filipinowriter.com aims to popularize Filipino-written works in the international scene.

As I was saying, I'm kinda defeating the purpose of filipinowriter.com with my recent blogs. So I should come clean.

I'm not going to delete the last 3 blogs with 3 foreign works because I still really like those poems, instead I'll just aim to point out to people that there is good literature found here locally.  Besides my blogs are just proofs that Filipinos do appreciate other literary works found internationally aside from appreciating their own. Tongue out Anyways from now on, I'm only going to post Filipino works.

So here is a little prelude:

Here is one of the poems I found: (Kundiman by Emmanuel Lacaba) with English Translation for people not here in the Philippines.

KUNDIMAN by Emmanuel Lacaba

Ang sabi mo pula ang paborito mo.
Ang sabi ko puti ang paborito ko.
Kagabi nang tayong dalawa'y nagkita,
nakapula ako at nakaputi ka.

KUNDIMAN

What you said was red is a favorite of yours.
What I said is white was a favorite of mine.
When the two of us saw each other last night,
I dressed in red and you wore white.

(translated from the Tagalog by Paolo Javier)

My first reaction to this poem is just "AWWWW..." This poem is just so cute and sweet. I could just imagine the cute couple meeting with each other and discovering how much each cares for one another. Isn't this poem adorable? Wink

Hi

Thanks.

I'll try to post my original works. Though if you don't like my works, don't be too harsh. Tongue out

The learning experience is in finding out why people like and

do not like about our work -- and one would be lucky to have someone who really knows what one is talking about to tell us what most people would not know, or worse, won't tell us....

let's see the gift in having people who care about us and our writing ... :-)
