PRIZES: First prize: $1,000 and publication in The Ledge Magazine. Second prize: $250 and publication in The Ledge Magazine. Third prize: $100 and publication in The Ledge Magazine.
ENTRY FEE: $10 for the first three (3) poems; $3 for each additional poem. $20 subscription (two issues) to The Ledge gains free entry for the first three poems.
NO RESTRICTIONS on form or content. The Ledge is open to all styles and schools of poetry. Excellence is the only criterion.
Riptide International Short Story Competition 2010

1st Prize £1,000
The winner and nine runners up will be published in Riptide Volume 6. All those published will receive 2 complimentary copies of the anthology. The winners will be announced at an Awards Event at the University of Exeter in Autumn 2010 to coincide with the Children’s Literature Festival.
Judges: Philip Hensher will judge the short list from a preliminary selection by the Riptide editors and their team.
Script Frenzy 2010

ContestScript Frenzy is an international writing event in which participants take on the challenge of writing 100 pages of scripted material in the month of April. As part of a donation-funded nonprofit, Script Frenzy charges no fee to participate; there are also no valuable prizes awarded or "best" scripts singled out. MISUNDERSTANDING
One or more characters misunderstand an important communication of some kind. The type of communication does not matter--only that the character(s) notice/receive it and misunderstand it.
Your challenge: In at least 1,000 but no more than 5,000 words, write a creative, compelling, and well-crafted story that clearly uses the premise. If you have questions, ask us at Questions@OnThePremises.com.

H.O.W. Journal is hosting its first short story contest to be judged by acclaimed author Susan Minot.
Guidelines:
The contest is open to all writers and all themes
The word limit is 12,000.
We do consider unpublished novel excerpts if they feel like complete stories.
It's fine to submit more than one story.
Manuscripts should be submitted with a cover note listing the author's name, address, phone number, and email; names should not appear on the stories themselves.
