Copy Cats and Ingiteras
No offense, guys, but, a lot of my family members who work overseas tell me that it is difficult to accompany our fellow Filipinos and the number one reason is because that they are copy cats and ingiteras or ingiteros.
One of them even commented, "I just want to scream at them (Fellow Filipinos), 'You're in a foreign country for a reason! Don't bring your culture here! Do what the Romans do!'"
Sa loob ng social gathering ng mga Pinoy, over seas eh, puro plastikan daw. I also have a hard time getting along with Filipinos, mainly because I like to keep my book close. Keeping my book close saves me from unnecessary drama that really is of no use to me. Call me cold and unloving, but, am not the clingy type; most Filipinos are the clingy types and they are often, too open. If you don't open up, they find you boring or standoffish and would never even think of inviting you to parties.
That or they think you're a snob.
Sorry, but, it's not that we're snobs, we just don't like the idea of you thrashing us the minute we decide that you're not the kind of people we should mingle with.
I learned that the easy way. You can pretty much guess:
I befriended some Filipinos, showed them the kind of life I lead, and when I realize that they are not the kind of people I should be with, I tried to avoid them. The idea of them talking about me like am their savior made me sick. I should have left it at that, but, some people (guess who) weren't happy about it, so, I naturally unleashed the bitch in me and hurt the people I wanted away from me. Now they talk like am some kind of a devil that they shouldn't trifle with; it has its pros and cons. Well, at least, I don't have to worry about them anymore, right?
So, now I wonder if it's a cultural thing-- Filipinos being jealous, clingy and all that, so, I will do some research on that one, and write about it in the days to come. Don't you DARE do it before or after me. lol, Like that's gonna happen, right?
Tata!

Dude ... are you real? I'm thinking just how nice you are. Thanks. I also don't like to be a PINOY by name tag, alone. I mean, people are people. Who cares where you are from, what you do, and why you do them. What matters is that you are human and you are doing what you can do best. Right?
Dude, you melt my heart. Peace, bro! :)

hospitality..
filipinos have been known throughout the world for their hospitality. perhaps this is true when it comes to people other than your own family; for, how can you say you're hospitable when you can't even welcome your own relatives in your home?
as for copycats and ingiteras? sadly, it's part of the so-called crab mentality that we have been known for as well. i've been trying to change that on my part and replacing it w/ something like, "if i lift you up, you can pull me up" mentality. it's tough. but i'm teaching it to the kids in my volunteer work.
i guess people do change when they're in another land. they get this certain high that they've evolved or something. i hope i can just be me when i go abroad.
it's tough, but i don't want to be a pinoy by name tag alone.
nice read. TY, TC & God bless! ^_^
