If you're interested to learn about what transpired during the first day of TABOAN:  Philippine International Writers Festival 2009, Charles Tan has uploaded recordings of some of the panel discussions. Thanks to Kenneth Yu for the link. Here's what I commented on Kenneth's Multiply blog:

Thanks for linking, Ken, and thanks to Charles for uploading the recordings! Since I'm a night person, I could only attend the panels scheduled after lunch, and was late for the first panel I was interested in -- 'Writing for a Living'. With the recording, I can now listen to the 20 minutes or so I missed. I was also interested in attending the three parallel panels in the latter part of the afternoon, and because I don't have superpowers, could only attend one -- 'Filipino-ness in the Global Age.' Missed 'Writing Off-Center: The Regional Experience' and 'Atbp: Writing off the Mainstream.' With Charles' recording, at least I could listen to the latter, and then the morning session -- 'Ganito Kami Noon: Writing Through the Decades.' (I also felt bad because Jason Chanchoco, a panelist in the Regional Experience discussions is a kababayan from Iriga City. Hopefully, someone else was able to record that panel?)

I was meaning to record parts of the talks with my digital cam video, but to my dismay, found out that I didn't bring any memory card! I think it would be a great idea if all of the attendees will make an effort to record the remaining discussions (and upload? :)) since I wasn't sure all the panels were being recorded officially from beginning to end -- I was only aware of Vic Nierva going around from panel to panel shooting video.

I'm attending today and tomorrow's discussions -- I'll try to record on my digital cam snippets of the sessions.

If you're free, try to attend the remaining events today and tomorrow -- you'll learn a lot about writing, publishing, and literature, and will get to meet a lot of famous writers. It's free. :)
