SILLADA’S 8th ONE –MAN SHOW with Live Art Performance & Poetry Reading
Controversial for his 2005 painting “Menstrual Period in Political History” at the heights of “Hello Garci” controversy, Danny Castillones Sillada is mounting a major show on April 19, 2006 at Art Center, SM Megamall titled “Sillada”. The suite of his paintings will include recent and past works from 1998 to 2006 including the 2005 controversial piece “The Menstrual Period in Political History”, a satirical take on the cyclical turmoil of politics in the country.
Hailed from the troubled land in Mindanao, Sillada is a poet, painter, philosopher and performance artist. His works, as a critic says, “Are inherently sensual, sensitive, and teeming with vibrant colors.” But much unlike his poetry and philosophical writings, his art has no trace of rancor or sorrow, albeit at time, they can be enigmatic and haunting.

The UP Film Institute announces its first Advanced Scriptwriting
Workshop starting on March 25 and continues every Saturday therein
on April 1, 8, 22, 29 and ending on May 1 (6 Saturdays, 1-6pm).
Targeting professional screenwriters or teleplay writers, this
workshop goes beyond the basics in challenging participants to
construct culturally meaningful subjects for their scripts. The
workshop has been designed for experienced writers to cover the
advanced topics: the grammar of the film narrative, time modes in
rendering the narrative subject, blocking designs to structure the
plot, rhetorical devices to articulate narrative arguments and
various mechanisms to heighten dramatic scenes.

FOR eight years, 2,287,964 books were distributed to more than 8,000 public elementary and secondary school libraries and day care centers all over the country. SM Foundation will once again be launching its Donate-a-Book campaign from April 4 to May 3 at all SM Supermalls.
The campaign encourages shoppers to share their knowledge and wisdom and give hope to the less fortunate by donating used or new books at the Donate-a-Book booth located at the Lower Ground Floor of SM City Baguio near the Atrium.
Spearheaded by SM Foundation, project partners include the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
