Religious? Um. No. The point behind the painting, if you must know, is that on a philosophical level I tend to identify more with Biblical "villains" than the good guys. Cain was offering the fruit of the earth to God-- an offering that does not entail the taking of life-- while Abel was offering flesh and blood. Guess which was accepted? Sacrificial death is spiritual coin it seems. God wants his meat. The Tower of Babel was about men who wanted to reach the stars. God didn't want men to dream beyond the prison of the world. Judas, at least in the nonsecular interpretation of the character in Jesus Christ Superstar, was a man who smelled the bullshit and didn't like it one bit. So on, so forth.

Also, let me clarify: I'm not fond of creatures we do not see. I tend to think that we don't see these creatures for a reason. Mainly because they don't exist. And you not only have permission to save them in your memory banks. You also have permission to right click them and save them on your computer! How cool is that?

I'm looking at a few copies of the Book of Genesis and I don't find any passages that tell the story your way. In fact, there's nothing here that explains the motives of God, Cain, and Abel. It just says both brothers offered what they had and God chose one over the other. Which means what you're saying is in the realm of wishful thinking.

No, I'll never find a copy of what you are saying because it's an interpretation of the Book of Genesis with lots of rationalization (also called "theological perceptions and points of view" to sound more respectable) thrown in. Now I'm seriously wondering why you are so resistant to being corrected. NO BRAIN and NO BRAINER might "almost" be the same but the fact is: it isn't. It's an idiom that's been around for quite some time now and, I'm sure you know, it means "anything that requires little thought." An idiom works when it's replicated faithfully. It also works when you break the rules, sure-- but you have to know exactly what you're doing in the first place or you'll just look ignorant. Again, words are symbols. Your language of choice is English and to be a good writer you have to excel in your language of choice. Good enough just doesn't cut it. Good enough is for high school informal essays. Good enough is for mediocre writers. I'm not saying that you have to have a vocabulary as massive as HP Lovecraft's-- only that you can use what you have effectively.

Also, I don't think a discussion on Biblical issues is a no-brainer. Sharper minds than yours and mine have been baffled by scriptural issues for millenia.

i don't want to grab the microphone from squid, i'm sure he can answer all with much details and argue about the anatomy of his drawings but being an artist too i think that's why they call it surreal and fantasy art because every thing is done in a not so normal environment coming from a not so normal mind so you cannot expect an anatomical balance in full perfection. I wonder if Picasso would agree.

and one thing about the "diabolic" theme of the drawing, still i wonder why they call it diabolic when no one had ever seen the devil or how he looks like. we always think fangs, horns, mean look, pugnacious character, long sharp claws, sinister smile is diabolic and yet no one had ever seen the devil. The devil or diablo as far as i know is spirit in nature so no human had ever seen him. so quit name-tagging art and other related works as diabolic.
