MAG:NET KATIPUNAN HANGING OUT CLASSES TO REOPEN IN NOV

Enrollment is now open for this year’s Mag:net Katipunan Hanging out Classes which will start in November. A limited minimum of 8 and maximum of 10 students (first come first served) for each class is required to start a series of 4-5 sessions, which will be conducted once a week usually after 5PM, final schedules (need not consecutive) will be mutually agreed on between teachers and students. Started last year, Hanging out Classes (Mag:net’s alternative classes) were successful in bringing together a special kind of student-teacher bonding conducted in an intimate café setting rather than the classroom. Courses are culminated with students collectively presenting what they have created and developed during the course may it be a gig, a reading, a screening or an exhibit.

Courses offered this year are: Creative Writing on Tuesdays (Hanging out with Alfred A. Yuson); Painting Techniques on Wednesdays (Hanging out with Alvin Villaruel); Songwriting on Thursdays (Hanging out with Cynthia Alexander); Rockstar Computer Skills on Fridays (Hanging out with JC Medina) and Cinematography on Saturdays (Hanging out with Nap Jamir). Computer Skills is a new course added this year. According to Medina, “Rockstar Computer Skills” is an alternative computer training course covering office applications, design tools, mind mapping and web applications for idea generation and productivity. What is so good about this course is Medina will give away softwares after the course. As in last year, students of Krip Yuson and Cynthia Alexander will once again hold a joint culminating gig in the café with poetry and songs which their students developed during the course. In the case of Villaruel’s students, an exhibition of their works will be exhibited along with his in a group show at The Wall at Mag:net High Street in December. Nap Jamir’s students’ works will be collectively premiered and included in Cinekatipunan programming in January.
