Nagising ako kaninang umaga sa isang sunod-sunod na text message. Tahimik dapat ang CellPhone ko ng mga ganitong oras dahil wala naman akong regular na ka text bukod sa aking asawa na nung oras na iyon ay naglalakbay pa lamang sa bus patungong office niya (at malamang sa hindi tulog din yun sa sasakyan). Baka emergency kako, kaya tiningnan ko agad. Eto ang nakita ko:
Ahm, Marie Velasco po name ko, 21yo from Mandalagan Bacolod City. Graduate po ng BS Information Management (DOST Scholarship). Living alone sa isang boarding haus dito po sa Purok Sambag. 5’7” and hardworking province girl po. May pic po ako sa www.marievelasco.cjb.net
-nagtex lang po ako ng random numbers starting with 09178 and really hoping na may Makita man lang ako kahit maliit na tulong para makaluwas ng Maynila. Wala po akong idea kung babae o lalaki tinitex ko. But i’m willing to give any favourable exchange in ur part para sa tulong na makapunta sa maynila. Un lang po sana – Marie. +639159884255
Yan ang una niyang tex. Hindi ko muna agad sinagot, pero ilang minuto lang may follow up na siya agad, mukhang mainipin ang ating bida.
Helo po...si Marie po to willing po ba kayong tulungan ako? parang awa nyo na po...kailangan kailangan ko po talaga ng tulong nyo...ako lang mag-isa ngayon sa Bacolod kaya mahirap po ang sitwasyon ko ngayon gayong wala pa akong trabaho dito...bigyan nyo lang po sana ako ng chance na makapunta ng maynila...yung lang po sana yung hinihingi kong tulong...willing naman po akong magsakripisyo eh na magbigay ng kapalit para sa trabaho ko sana sa maynila...hirap na po talaga dito – Marie.
At di na ako nakatiis at sumagot ako, sabi ko: wala ka bang kamag-anak dyan sa Bacolod? Nakapagtapos ka ng college na nag-iisa diyan? Mapapahamak ka sa ginagawa mo lalo na dito sa Maynila.
At sumagot po ulit sat ex ang melo-dramatic nating drama Queen ang sabi:
Hindi naman po ako mapapahamak, may 22luyan naman po ako pansamantala sa Novaliches, sa isang malaung kamag-anak. Tapos may trabaho na naman po akong papasukan...sana bigyan po niyo ako ng chance na magkaroon ng career. Naghhnayang lang ako sa lumilipas na araw na dapat na sumusweldo nko at nagttrabaho. Ganun po ako kapursigido.
Sa sulat lang po kami nagkakausap ng tiyahin ko. Wala naman po silang cellphone, dahil sa Rebisco factory po sila nagwowork sa may Gen. Luis lang po kaya di ko rin po sila malalapitan.
Medyo strange na yung pangalawang tex niya, kasi kung nagtapos ka bilang scholar sa isang university, malamang matalino ka—scholar e. At dahil dun may mga kaklase ka, teacher, professor, dean etc. Di mo ba sila pwedeng lapitan para sa kaunting barya na pamasahe? Napag-alaman ko na P1,800 ang pamasahe sa barko papuntang maynila at Cabin na yun ha.
Ang ginawa ko tinex ko ulit siya sabi ko: Bakit di ka na lang mag email o tumawag kay Mike Enriquez sa Imbestigador o sa GMA-7 i’m sure matutulungan ka nila. Dead silence...di na sumagot ulit. Ang ginawa ko tinawagan ko. Sa kabilang dulo ng linya ay isang boses ng babae. “hello, ikaw ba si Marie?” sabi ko..”opo, bakit po?” mangiyak-ngiyak pa ang boses ng babaeng sumagot. “alam mo Marie, delikado yang ginaga...CLICK! putol ang linya. Natakot ata.
Alam ko lokohan lang ito, alam ko nanggagago lang itong mMarie Velasco na ito. Agad kong hinanap sa internet ang website na ibinigay niya at ilang related post patungkol sa kanya at ito ang mga nakuha ko.

mag-ingat lang po may mga taong sinasamantala ang kabutihan ng kapwa tao nila. Kung isa kang lalaki at maaakit sa kanyang larawan na nasa website niya malamang maloko ka. Kasi bukod sa maganda, matalino pa at may isang kombinasyon ng character niya na maaakit ang sino mang mapagsamantala din. Ang kanyang vulnerability—“But I’m willing to give any favourable exchange in ur part para sa tulong na makapunta sa maynila”
alam na alam ng scammer na ito ang posibleng kahinaan ng mga taong kapwa niya mapagsamantala. Napag-alaman ko din na mula pa pala June ng taong ito ginagawa ang raket na ito—mag-ingat!

Thank you for posting this warning for everyone to see. I am so very embarrasssed to admit it but I myself almost got conned.
I received 2 text messages from this girl. Taking pity on her plight, I even called her up and spoke with her. I agreed to send her thru LBC Php 5,000. And believe me, I agreed to help her absolutely with NO STRINGS ATTACHED (honest!).
During our phone conversation I simply asked her to not to receive money from anybody else, and just make sure that the money is devoted to good use.
The only thing stupid was, I did not care to investigate, perhaps because I live a very busy life.
Just this afternoon, at about 1:00, I sent the amount thru a nearby LBC outlet. Afterwards, I texted her the corresponding tracking number.
She replied and thanked me, saying “Thank you, thank you po. Umuulan pa dito…Ano po ang sender name nyo?”
What she just txted me raised my “scam alert.”
In spite of the fact that I had previously given her my name during our previous sms correspondences, why would she still have to ask for my name again–unless–there are others who are sending her money as well.
What did then is to fire-up a Google search for the name “Annamarie O. Velasco”–and woah–my jaw dropped when I saw this as well as all the other sites claiming that it was all a scam.
I was about to accept my fate that I was duped–until I recalled that she mentioned in her txt message that it was still raining at their place (”Umuulan pa dito…”). Realizing that, since not more than an hour had passed since I handed the money to LBC, and given the fact that it must be raining cats and dogs back there in Bacolod, there is still that probability that she had not yet claimed the amount that I had sent her.
I immediately rushed to the LBC outlet and then and there asked that the transaction be voided. FORTUNATELY I was informed that the money had not been claimed yet, and the full amount (no penalties) we refunded to me upon surrender of the receipt covering the transaction.
Thank goodness I was able to recover my money. Thank you for posting this warning to everyone.
Inasmuch as we should not become distrustful of our fellowmen, we should likewise exercise due diligence in our dealings with them.
Thus, the moral lesson is: WHEN IN DOUBT–GOOGLE IT!

yes indeed this is a scam, i too have been texted by this sweet voiced woman...sana mawala yang ganyan i almost got hooked in sending her money. i doubted when i told her i just send her an e ticket then she said she has a lot of things to carry so she opted to ask for money instead. i asked her how much is the fare she said 2.3k. i inquired for the fare from bacolod to manila and the fare is only 1.2k for ordinary, 1.8k for business and 2.4k for cabin. so i told her why coose cabin?? and she said she feels not safe in the ordinary. i almost got hooked and send her money so to all out there this is a scam.

i even contacted my friend whoi happens to be an executive at smc. wow there was no immediate hiring for it specialist. kaya most people dont trust things like this, they tend to abuse the use of the net...its a pity...

why dont we trap this woman, someone should send her money via lbc and someone should wait for her to claim the money, that way when she cliams the money we can cath her and put her stupidness to halt?? i have some contacts in bacolod so this would be a walk in the park if we would like to catch her..

after i googled this name up, my trip-mode fired up. i told her that as a fellow lasallian, i would want to extend any help that i can give, and that i know people in san miguel..HR dept pa. so she told me a lil more of her story...a lil more detail. she also reiterated the fact that she'd risk anything just to make it for her "deadline"in san miguel. she then said that she only needed some transportation fare either by boat or plane...and to pick her up sa arrival. and then she offered to do her part of the deal kagad so she can concentrate on her interview. sabi ko don't worry about the interview...i have connections and asked her when she graduated. march daw...then i asked what position she applied for, sa IT dept daw...so i then asked when she submitted her application.......no reply.

kung scam to bakit pinapakita nito ang mukha niya... talaga bang siya ito or not? kasi kung photoshop pa yan oh ano.. baka may kamukha talaga ang nasa picture niyan? ang masama lang diyan baka yung taong nasa pic ay walang kaalam-alam about this... at baka masira na alng siya agad dahil sa pang ii-scam na ito....
mahirap kasi baka inosente ang nasa pic...tapos maynakakita sa kanya bigla na lang siyang ipadakip or aawayin......
di naman ako pro sa scam na yan... kung sino man siya tamaan sana siya ng kidlat.. but what i'm saying is ala ba dito makakatulong para matukoy kung sino talaga ang babaeng ito?? hirap na baka mapasama pa siya sa ibang tao... dahil sa krimen na di niya naman ginawa..

Alam nyo natatakot ako na maaring biktima lamang sya ng mga naninira sa kanya.
Kung sakaling isa kang manloloko o scammer, bakit nakalantad ang mukha nya at ibibigay ang buong pangalan nya?
Kung sya talaga yung scammer, ano ang pruweba mo na sya nga yung nasa larawan at sya nga si Marie Velasco.Isa pa hindi gawain ng isang matalinong tao to!! Isa pa wala pang scammer ang nagpakita ng totoong picture nya at totoong pangalan (with complete address pa).
Marami na akong napanood na ganyan ang style, na magpapanggap sya at ipapakalat ang picture at pangalan ng gusto nyng siraan. Kasi para masira ang pagkatao o buhay ng isang tao.
Sana hindi sya ang biktima dito, kasi kawawa talaga sya. Marami na akong nakilalang ganyan ang naging sitwasyon marami sa kanila nagtangkang magpakamatay kasi sa sobrang kahihiyaan dahil sa mga paninira ng ibang tao.
ROM, i hope hindi sya ang biktima dito kasi nakakawa talaga sya!

yung nagtetex na si marie velasco, nagkataong na tex niya rin si Arnold Clavio kailan lang ang ginawa daw ni Arnold Clavio na kasalukuyang on air nung tinex niya--tinawagan siya at on air ang conversation nila, dito rin na conclude ni Arnold na manloloko nga iyon.
kung titingnan at babasahin mo ang mga salaysay ng mga na tex niya (sa link na ibinigay ko sa itaas) makikita mo ang pattern ng modus operandi niya.
suriin mo din ang picture. kung sanay ka sa graphics, partikular sa photoshop mapapansin mong niretoke lang ito. yung korte ng mukha ay di na tunay na korte ng mukha pati ang ilong. ang kulay ay gayun din. malamng nga tunay na litrato ito ng kung sino at inayos lamang para mag-iba ng anyo.
syempre kung scammer ka lahat gagawin mo para magmukhang legitimate ang pagpapakilala mo at di magduda sa iyo--kaya nagbibigay siya ng allegedly tunay na pangalan, address, school atbp. Nung hindi pa niya inaalis ang website niya may kopya pa nga siya ng transcript at diploma e. na kung susuriin halatang binura at pinatungan lang. may certificate of grades pa siya nilagay dun. pero kung talagang mapanuri ka makikita mo ang "flaw" nito.
sa mga nauna sabi niya sa la salle daw siya nag-aaral at management at ang kurso. nung nag tex siya sa akin DOST scholar daw siya at information tech ata ang kurso. kaya malamang sa hindi nanloloko siya di ba?
wala naman siyang binaggit na paninira sa kung sino e. ang gusto niya lang makakuha ng pera. kung magkagayon man e di sana may lumabas na tunay na Marie Velasco at nagsabi na sinisiraan lang siya ng kung sino mang galit sa kanya--kasi naman na broadcast na nga sa radyo ang pangalan niya e, di sana may reaction na sa tunay na Marie Velasco.
simpleng kaso lang ito ng scam wala nang iba.

Naku sikat na sikat pala yan sa Pinas eh, eh okay na rin yan para ma warningan ang iba pang tao.
Natatakot lang kasi ako na baka biktima lang sya, kasi ang dami ko ng napanood na ganyan sa TV eh karamihan sa kanila nagpakamatay na dahil sa sobrang kahihiyan at paninira sa kanya.
Pero kung talagang scammer sya eh sana mahuli na sya ng mga pulis.
Sabagay marami na kasing modus operandi ngayon!!

tiningnan ko yung pic...masasabi ko edited nga... maraming mga halatang kamalian like her lips... sa itaas di ito pantsay mas payat ang kabila.. yung buong lips niya... ay nakatagilid... kung sa ordinarinf smile yan... yung part na tatagilid lang ay yung binigyan mo ng kaunting puwersa...
yung leeg niya naman ay mas halata... may part dun na masyadong maputi.. while sa left part nito maitim di ito shadow ng buhok kasi di pantay sa pagkakaayus..o pagkaka linya ng buhok niya sa left... sa bandang baba naman makikita mong nasa right side ang itim na kulay... kung iisipin mo o kung mahilig kang magpinta.... dapat nasa left ang shadow at hindi sa right.. kasi medyo na ka abante ang left shoulder niya eh..
