NEW backup and storage solutions based on open source information technology (IT) systems are available for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as open systems enterprise solutions provider Touch Solutions Inc. announced the launch of the New Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 software.

The Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 is an upgrade of the Acronis True Image software and is based on Acronis’s patented disk imaging and bare metal restore technologies. The software is “designed to provide centralized management of all backup and recovery activities to help organizations meet challenging recovery time objective,” Acronis business development manager for Asia South Tam Chek San said.

The software also delivers “an affordable deduplication option that helps IT departments to make better use of their storage and network infrastructure, thus, save time and expense,” Tam said. “It eliminates backup copies of the same data from multiple computers, resulting in substantial storage and network bandwidth cost savings.”

“Given tight budgets and the strong need for data security, we found it necessary to make available in the Philippines backup and disaster recovery solutions that are both reliable and cost-efficient,” Touch Solutions president Anson Uy said. “We’re glad to be carrying the Acronis brand in the Philippines, given its reputation as the industry’s easiest-to-use backup and recovery application.” Touch Solutions is the exclusive Acronis distributor in the Philippines.

Tam also said Acronis has expanded its market focus to “better address the needs of large organizations while continuing to deliver unprecedented features and functions for SMEs. He added that Acronis’ definition of SMEs covers firms with “499 employees or less.” He added that the new offering has features that are “high-end, yet it is the industry’s easiest-to-use backup and recovery application.”
