PORC
I ate a porcupine the other day…
Swallowed it whole, its quills made way
For my own blood to quench my thirst…
And as I bled myself to death, I realized,
The porcupine I ate,
I can’t digest!!!
This is an old piece. I wrote it back in high school. But it is very important to me. It defined my direction as a writer (or at least as an aspiring writer). This was my attempt at a funny poem!
I just feel like my stay here wouldn't be complete without posting this. :)
That's really cute and funny.
It reminds me of this poem I read in 3rd Grade:
There was an old Lady who swallowed a Fly
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I dunno why she swallowed that fly,
Perhaps she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,
That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly -
Perhaps she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a bird;
How absurd, to swallow a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly -
Perhaps she'll die
There was an old lady who swallowed a cat.
Imagine that, she swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die
There was an old lady who swallowed a dog.
What a hog! To swallow a dog!
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat...
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a goat.
Just opened her throat and swallowed a goat!
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog ...
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.
I don't know how she swallowed a cow!
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat...
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog...
There was an old lady who swallowed a horse -
She's dead, of course.
third grade?!!!
I knew it...
I've always known that children's poems and nursery rhymes are among the world's most disturbing poetry...
"Rock-a-bye baby..."
"Jack and Jill..."
"Humpty Dumpty..."
oo i agree
little boy blue hahaha
yung twinkle twinkle little star?
hahaha
ala lang di ko matugtog ng maayos eh sa violin kaya disturbing para sa akin hahaha!
magandang araw pmel!
Yep! Third Grade!
When I was in second grade, my mom sent me these Japanese Fairy Tales from Japan to learn the language and I'm telling you, it's as bloody and disturbing as those nursery rhymes. :)
