Dear Friends,

On behalf of the several organizations involved, I would like to invite you to "Mabuhay ang Quiapo! Ipagdiwang ang Kanyang Pamana!" on March 24, Saturday, starting at 4:30. There are several events. Take your pick. You could also just join us at Calle San Sebastian at 6 pm for the book launch of "Quiapo Heart of Manila." This will be held on this small street which has three charming vintage houses that will be lit up for the occasion. Their interiors will also be open for viewing.

The book is a joint venture between a team of Ateneo de Manila and University of the Philippines scholars. It documents Quiapo's history, transformations in its esteros, its built heritage, its painterly and sculptural tradition, its cookery, its music, its amulets and herbs, its various religious places, its role as cut flower and paper flower industry. It also examines why Manila began to suffer urban decay after WW II, possible incentives and uses for heritage houses.
