I suppose ...

Most Filipinos do like sweets and confectioners over real food. It explains why they can't appreciate Indian food, which is quite a pity since their spices are superb (Even Bicolanos, well known for their love of chilis). Or Thai and Vietnamese cuisines. I do like authentic dishes ... at least, of what I consider authentic. Though, it strike me as odd that Filipinos don't learn from French Chefs, a higher form of deserts. I mean, you like sweets, learn from the pros how to improve it. 

I did see a few cake shops that strive to apply French Deserts in their own menus though, there aren't a lot of them around.
