WEB portal Yahoo! recently underscored its role as “a highly relevant and essential tool to power Pinoy passions” by spearheading a social movement called Project Purple in the country as part of an effort to help Filipinos find, share and connect to things that fuel their passions.
Yahoo! Philippines general manager Jojo Añonuevo said Project Purple “powers passions by encouraging Filipinos to be creative, innovative, to express their opinions and be heard and listened to in a fun and fresh way.” This major social networking effort links Yahoo!’s brand promise “to transform the lives of people, societies and economies.”
“Project Purple is a social movement and is open to everyone—online and offline. We are rallying Pinoys to be Purple and utilize the internet to aim higher,” he added. “The Internet and Yahoo! have become essential services to people and a great equalizer for people to expand their horizons.”
Purple is Yahoo!’s corporate color and is seen as reflective of the company’s brand personality and philosophy of innovation, uniqueness, creativity and passion. Through this campaign, Yahoo! seeks to have Filipinos share their vision and bring “innovation and a positive change” to the Philippines, Yahoo! sales head Cris Concepcion said.
This social movement sees the participation of top Philippine and global companies: Ayala Land Inc., BlackBerry, Canon Philippines, Globe Telecom, Honda Philippines, Krispy Kreme Philippines and Nestlé Philippines.
